Accessibility Statement
Awareverse is committed to making our website and services accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, and those using assistive technologies. For us this is not just about compliance. It is about genuinely including the community we serve.
🎯 Our Accessibility Standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA — the international standard for web accessibility. This covers four core principles:
✅ Accessibility Features We Provide
Website
- Semantic HTML with proper heading structure
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and interactive elements
- High contrast colour schemes in our dark mode design
- Scalable text and fully responsive design
- Descriptive link text and button labels
- Form labels, error messages, and clear instructions
- Focus indicators for keyboard navigation
- Skip to content links
Content
- Plain English throughout — particularly important for our neurodivergent audience
- Multiple ways to find information — search, categories, navigation
- Consistent page layouts and navigation patterns
- Our coded communication system for people who find direct disclosure difficult
Safeguarding and Support Access
- Our safeguarding contact page is designed to be as low-barrier as possible
- The coded system removes language barriers for people who cannot describe what has happened to them
- No real name or identifying information is required to access support
- The support page works on mobile devices
🖥️ Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to work with:
- Screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
- Voice recognition software
- Switch navigation devices
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Browser zoom up to 200% without horizontal scrolling
- High contrast and dark mode settings
⚠️ Known Issues
We are actively working to address these areas:
- Some older PDF documents may not be fully screen reader accessible
- Third-party payment systems have their own accessibility limitations outside our control
- Some dynamic content may require manual screen reader refresh
🔄 Alternative Formats
We can provide information in alternative formats on request including large print, simplified language versions, and electronic formats compatible with assistive technology. Contact us at hello@awareverse.co.uk.
