The Story of Different Minds  ·  Dyslexia and Word Blindness

Intelligence vs Literacy

Why reading and spelling are not the same as intelligence.

The system confused the route with the mind.

Simple version

Literacy is powerful, but it is not the same as intelligence. A dyslexic person may struggle with spelling, decoding or written speed while thinking deeply and creatively.

Why it matters

When a system makes reading and writing the only acceptable route, it can hide ability.

Awareverse lens

Awareverse supports multiple routes to expression, evidence and success.

Question to ask

When looking at intelligence vs literacy, ask: who had power, who was being labelled, and what would have changed if the human being had been seen first?
